In the rush for increasing the tips to 10, you have forgotten mentioning the basic point about having good, original content. Without content ,all the traffic generated will show a result of 100% bounce rate.

This is about choosing paid traffic or Free.
Free traffic includes:
1 - SEO (Backlinking)
2 - Social networks
3 - Web 2.0 Properties
4 - Article marketing
5 - Video posting
...

Paid Traffic:
1 - PPC
2 - PPV
3 - Using PTC sites
...

I'd go for free traffic before going through spend money for it. Once you are master in gaining free traffic and make money using it then invest the money to paid traffic to get fast results.

I actually wrote this list down since I have just started my website a few months ago. I am getting traffic...not much, but with these tips, I am sure that I will get some more.  Some of these tips I would have never thought of such as submitting to classified ads and adding related links. Thanks for the info...I am super new at this! :)
