I see your point but i think the premium memberships encourage site activity and promotion and members make money off PTP and other memberships, normally a LOT more than they paid for the membership.   

meaning either you make a profit or they make a profit.

Well, yes, some members lose money on memberships and some gain.  Of course, the member has about 12 choices so it's up to him/her to make a good choice for themselves.  Obviously if a member has NO referral and decided to get a membership with only Increased Ref Earnings, I bet they will lose money.  I lose money ALL the time on memberships but I STILL buy them.   It encourages me to promote the site so that after my membership runs out, I still have 130 referrals with maybe 20 or so good actives....I keep those actives and sometime in the future I will make profit *maybe* ...but then again, I don't really care. 

PTC is fun for me, I don't click to make money, I click because I enjoy staying occupied while I spend time online looking at dumb YouTube videos, chatting with friends, and working on stuff.
