banner resizing question
« on: August 13, 2008, 11:53:55 PM »
I want to place some ads in a sidebar, like in your blog, or in the feature ad section, but most of the banners are too wide, and they either get cut off or they end up looking warped.  If a site doesn't provide you with the smaller banner, how can you re-size the normal one, without it looking distorted?  Would I have to re-size it, and then host the image myself?

Thanks so much,
Planets32 ^i^

you can even do this in paint, take the banner, create a new picture of so many pixels by so many pixels (whatever the intended size is) and move the banner around until you get a good picture of what you want.  It will cut off the ends but you will still get something workable.

You can host them using one of many image free-hosting services. But some of them load slow.

I upload all images to my server, so I can't recommend you any of them, but there's some people here who have been using several of these services, they can give you some recomms.

Thank you.
I was using photobucket (twist-n-cash, you have to host your own), but the links kept breaking.  So I started using image shack, but I can't seem to get the image larger, or the size off the banner  LOL.  Although I guess that would work for what I need.
Someone here recently posted, about 5, or so days ago, a payment image using another image hosting service.  One that I think is new.  I wanted to ask him about it, but I can't find the post yet.

I found it but you can't use it for banner advertisements!

Thanks so much, that's very kind of you to offer.  It's no problem for me to try photobucket again.  If I really need space my brother owns webspace that he rents out to people too.

What would be really great is if anyone reading this thread, that has a sight, might consider adding a shorty to their banner section  ;)   :)

Thanks again,

Hi,

To put a banner in any size on your site, use this code:
Code: [Select]
<a href="http://yoursite.com" target="_blank"><img style="width: 468px; height: 60px; border-style: none" src='http://yourbanner.com'></a>

To change the banner size, edit the numbers in this line:

width: 468px; height: 60px;

Also, I can host your banner (2 max), PM me

hope this helped
